Laughter Really Is the Best Medicine

We've all heard the phrase, "laughter is the best medicine," but did you know that laughing really is good medicine? I was reading EliteDaily that broke down six health benefits of laughter. When I'm having a bad day or just feeling down, laughing really does help. I will watch a funny show or movie, listen to a comedy podcast, or call up one of my best friends to meet up because I know I'll have a good laugh.

Lee Berk, a humor and laughter researcher at Loma Linda University told Elite Daily, "Mirthful laughter, as opposed to nervous or embarrassed laughter, promotes the good HDL cholesterol and has a cascade of beneficial physiological changes conducive for happiness...laugh as often and as much as you need until you feel good."

Here's how laughter can benefit your health!

Laughter improves your relationships.

Laughter can make you feel more chill and relieve anxiety.

Laughing can boost your immune system.

Laughing can keep your heart healthy and lower your blood pressure.

Laughter can help you manage pain.

Laughing helps you appreciate your life.
