Simple Ways To Organize Your Life

If you know me, you know that I am probably the most organized person ever. Like, it is to the point where it is a little annoying. I must have a to-do list, a schedule, and everything has its own place.

If this isn't you, that's cool. Seriously, I wish I could be not-so-uptight about organization and planning, but you know what? You got to embrace yourself.

Because I probably came out of the womb with a to-do list in hand, I've learned a lot about keeping my life as organized as possible. We all know life likes to throw us a curve ball sometimes, but when you have most of your ducks in a row, you can handle the curve balls a little better.

Here are my tips on how to get your life somewhat together!

1. Get a good planner or agenda

Whatever you call it, I don't care. The point is... you need one. If you want, you can use your phone, but that doesn't really work for me. I've got to write things down. I do utilize the calendar on my iPhone (color-coded and all that jazz), but my life is completely planned on my DayDesigner. You can find the link to get yours on my blog.

2. Clean your space

If my room or desk is a mess, I cannot focus. Every morning, I make my bed and straighten up my room every morning. I put things away immediately. I straighten up my desk every day before I leave the station. If it seems super overwhelming, set a timer for like 20 minutes and take that time to clean as much as you can. Pick a day to do deep cleaning and organizing like once a week or month. If you start doing this now, it will get so much easier. A clean space just makes you feel like you've got your life together.

3. Set goals

You've got to set some goals for yourself so you know what you need do every single day to make that happen. Write out your goals and look at them every day. Make a plan of action so that those goals become a reality. Don't know where to start? Here's a free goal-setting worksheet!

4. Have a to-do list

Without this, I would go about aimlessly throughout my day. I have everything on my to-do list. Write out your to-do list for the day the night before or morning of so you know exactly what needs to get done. I even schedule things out on my phone so I have zero excuse. Also, it feels so good to cross things off and watch that to-do list get smaller and smaller.

Now, go and organize your life. Just these few tips will make you feel like you can conquer anything!
