Newnan police are asking residents to stay off of roads this morning following major damage from a tornado that swept through the area overnight. Last night's storm had residents waking up today to power outages, downed trees, and several people injured.
Emergency officials are surveying the area. They're working to clear roads and restore power to affected areas.
State troopers reported to FOX 5 that one man died from a heart attack during the storm and say many others were injuried due to the weather.
Coweta County Schools have canceled all in-person and virtual classes for Friday.
