Thomaston Police Department officer fired due to social media post

Thomaston Police Department reports an officer's job was terminated due to a social media post created by the officer.

The report says on May 28 the department was made aware of a social media post created by officer Patrolman Walter Navarro.

Navarro was contacted by his supervisor about the post who in turn contacted Chief Richardson.

After an investigation of the post, the department terminated Navarro's employment with the city.

The department says "the conduct of this nature does not meet the high standards our agency and this community expects from our officers. "
