If you're thinking of booking a last-minute Airbnb for Memorial Day weekend to throw a RAGER, you might encounter some interference.
Airbnb announced their "anti-party" technology will be in effect for Memorial Day, and also the Fourth of July.
It's not a brand-new feature. It's the fourth year they've done it. And it doesn't mean they're listening in to see if you're too loud. It's just an algorithm that looks for red flags when you're booking a place.
They say it looks at a range of factors, including:
- Property type
- How long you're staying
- How far away you live
- Whether the booking is last minute or not
So, it might flag you if you're booking a huge house at the last second, and only live a few miles away. And if it does decide you're looking to party, they'll BLOCK your reservation.
They say it prevented over 50,000 bookings last year. Almost half of them were in just three states; Texas, Florida, and California.
