Fatal construction accident at local Quality Inn, one killed

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office posted a photo of a fatal construction site accident that happened Thursday morning.

A construction worker was killed this morning when a Quality Inn sign fell, crushing him. Two other workers were injured in the incident.

In the statement the Sheriff's office reported that Johnny Stewart, 18, of Macon, was pronounced dead at 11:19 a.m. at the Medical Center, Navicent Health.

The other two workers injured in the incident were a 52-year-old male and 62-year-old male have been listed in stable condition at the hospital.

According to the sheriff's news release, the workers were repairing a sign for the Quality Inn at 4630 Chambers Road when there was equipment failure. The sign for Quality Inn, which was suspended from a Rosson Sign Company boom truck, fell onto three workers.
