Bibb County deputy Corporal Sahkera Wooten has been taking time to give out free books to kids while responding to to calls. She talks about the importance of book with them.The free books are provided by Book'Em, a non profit organization that is tackling the literacy gap for children that live below the poverty line in Macon-Bibb County.
The non-profit has partnered with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and United Way of Central Georgia to give new and used books to at risks kids.
On Thursday, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office posted a picture of deputy handing out books to children with the caption, "Bibb County Sheriff's OfficeCpl. Sahkera Wooten says anytime she’s answering a call, she always takes time to talk to children about the importance of reading. Cpl.
