A Monroe County Sheriff's Office deputy and his family are in need after losing everything in a house fire on Monday.
Sgt. Kevin Williams' home caught fire early Monday morning, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Thankfully, Williams, his wife, and young son escaped safely. However, the fire destroyed the home and everything inside.
The community is now rallying together to help out the Williams family.
The sheriff's office announced Tuesday on Facebook that it's accepting gift cards and money donations on behalf of Williams' family.
Donations can be dropped off at the sheriff's office, located at 145 L. Cary Bittick Drive in Forsyth, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cherish Hunley of Forsyth posted to the "Middle Georgia Gives Back" Facebook group on Monday explaining Williams' family's unfortunate situation.
"One of our deputy’s home burnt down this morning and they lost EVERYTHING! It is him his wife and their 2-year-old son! Any help with clothing or other items such as toiletries would be GREATLY appreciated!"
Hunley has offered to meet up with those who wish to make a donation. She will then deliver it to the family.
She also wrote out sizes of clothes needed for Williams and his family. The post reads:
- MENS: 2x - 3x shirts, 44x32 pants 11 shoe, XL boxers
- WOMENS: 3x tops, 26 pants, 10 shoe, 26-28 underpants and 48D bra
- TODDLER: 2T - 3T Top, 24mo bottom, 6.5 - 7 shoe and either 2T - 3T pull-ups or size 5 pampers and wipes
The post adds that toiletries are also needed.
